Mater is neutered and vaccinated including rabies. He tested heartworm negative and is receiving monthly heartworm prevention. Mater is ready for adoption. Mater is a love bug. He is also opinionated. Mater took a while to open up after arriving in rescue but we found once he did he’s an absolute sweetheart. Mater and three buddies made their way to our rescue, along with three others who went to another rescue…that’s 7 unneutered male chihuahuas from one home. Mater seemed to be shy at first but he is actually pretty bossy once over his initial shyness. In typical chihuahua fashion, he likes who he likes and doesn’t like who he doesn’t like. Mater is getting more comfortable with a crate and seems to be potty trained. He can be really shy with people at first, but having another dog seems to help him warm up more. Mater needs work on the leash. Mater would enjoy a home with lap time and perhaps a dog buddy. A few days of patience and kindness may be needed to get him to be himself. Adoption fee is $200. At a minimum, a phone interview will be conducted and a vet reference checked before the applicant may meet their preferred pet. We adopt primarily in the 4 states of the ArkLaTexOma. Applicants willing to travel to Texarkana will also be considered with additional requirements to qualify as approved.
